Friday November 1, 2019

This post is a continuation of the $50 a month stock challenge I started October 14, 2019.  Click on, "No Commission Stock Trades", on the right side of the page to read from the start.

I  start the month with $103.61 for my starting trade balance but part of that is already in vested.
$103.61 x 2% (monthly target profit) = $2.07

     $103.61
   - $ 39.05 invested  1 share HP (10/30), dividend ex-date 11/07        ($0.71)
   - $   9.69 invested  1 share AROC (10/30) dividend ex-date 11/06   ($0.145)
$54.87 cash on hand to invest

6:30am (CDT)
BP is on my radar but it is moving up in pre-market trading ($38 or under would be my buy point).

     IVZ, $16.70 or under

     BPFH, $11.10 or under

7:40am (CDT)
CVX (Chevron) just reported it missed its earning est. BP (British Petroleum) is in the same sector so it may take a hit along with CVX (down 1% in pre-market).

9:00am (CDT)
The market is up and moving away from my "watch list" buy price, but that means HP and AROC that I already own is also moving up.

Entered "GTC (good till cancel) Limit Order" 1 share AROC @ $9.89.
Same type order (Limit GTC) on 1 share HP @ $39.85

10:30am (CDT)
UPDATE = changed my sell order on 1 share HP to $39.58

12:20pm (CDT)
     12:10pm, order filled1 share HP @ $39.58
                                                            - $39.05
                                                             $0.53 profit (1.35% ROI, .5% on account)

     Monthly target $2.07 - $0.53 = $1.54 still needed. 25% of monthly goal achieved.

Why did I sell, HP was up well over 5% today and I decided to take my 1.35% gain and not leave my investment at risk. Realized gains are "in the bank" and unrealized (paper) gains are just that. When possible I try not hold short term plays over the weekend.

3:25pm (CDT)
    $54.87 cash to trade
+$39.58 unsettled funds (sale of HP) turns to cash on Tuesday.
  - $ 9.69 invested in AROC
